A common oral health condition that affects children is known as teething. Teething first occurs when a child’s first set of teeth, referred to as their primary teeth, begin to break through their gum line. When this occurs, it is possible for the child to feel discomfort and pain. Fortunately, there are several treatment methods to ensure they can receive the necessary care they deserve.

There are several risks associated with teething in your child’s oral health. If your child is teething, it often means that they are probably suffering some pain or discomfort. Although this is common, there are several things you can do to help alleviate the pain. Provided they’re old enough, it may be helpful to provide teething tablets or pain relievers, although, only under the guidance of their dentist.

At-home treatments for your child suffering from teething include teething rings, spoons, gauze pad or even your finger, if it’s been cleaned, to gently rub their gums. If you’re unaware if your child is suffering from teething, typically, they will be extra fussy and irritable and have difficulties sleeping. If your child show signs of a fever, rash or diarrhea, consult with their dentist for further help.
